[Report] Update On When John Cena Could Return To WWE

A major wrestler could be available to return by the time WWE resumes touring in July.

Because of his filming schedule for the Peacemaker series on HBO, Cena couldn’t make it to WrestleMania 37 this year.

The show is being filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. Cena explained that he would have to quarantine for 14 days if he were to make the trip to WrestleMania, which would delay the Peacemaker production.

However, the 16-time World Champion should be free to return to WWE programming before long.

According to Mike Johnson of PWINsider.com, production for Peacemaker is currently scheduled to conclude on July 6. After that, Cena can come back to the United States and possibly work WWE events.

Last week, WWE revealed their plans for a return to touring. It’ll commence on July 16, with SmackDown taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

The Money in the Bank pay-per-view will take place at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, and the ensuing episode of Monday Night Raw will run at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas.

WWE will announce other tour dates and locations at a later time.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported last week that WWE was already discussing Cena’s return for the July 16 episode of SmackDown.

Because of a busy and successful movie career, wrestling fans haven’t seen much of Cena on WWE programming in recent years. But he remains a giant main event draw, and his popularity hasn’t gone away in the slightest. Any time Cena appears on WWE television, it makes the show that much better. It’s anybody’s guess when we’ll see him next, but his return promises to be epic. We’ll just have to wait patiently for it.

When Was Cena’s Last Match? Return Will Be Thrilling

Cena’s last WWE bout was a cinematic “Firefly Fun House” match against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36. The latter managed to defeat Cena, who has wrestled three total matches since the start of 2019.
