5 Wrestlers Who Should Beat Roman Reigns (& 5 Who Shouldn’t)
Roman Reigns has always been a tough wrestler to beat, but since he turned heel, he has become practically invincible. In fact, since The Tribal Chief returned at SummerSlam, he has only lost one match, against Kevin Owens and Otis by disqualification.
Maybe Jey Uso has helped his cousin win some bouts, but no one can deny that Roman Reigns is more dominant than ever. That said, fans can wonder who will be the man to finally defeat Roman Reigns? Daniel Bryan came very close, but he will no longer cross Reigns’ path. Without further ado, let’s take a look at five wrestlers who should beat Roman Reigns and five who shouldn’t.
After a big win over Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 37, Cesaro has his sights set on Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Obviously, defeating Reigns is no easy task, but Cesaro has everything it takes to do it.
Cesaro has long been deserving a big push and this looks like the golden opportunity for him to finally reach greatness. Cesaro’s career has been very good, but he urgently needs a title run as a singles star. Cesaro is the babyface that fans want to see beating Roman Reigns.
9Shouldn’t: Big E
As much as some fans would like to see Big E defeating Roman Reigns, that seems highly unlikely. Big E has been pushed lately and that led to him having a good Intercontinental Title reign, but frankly, Big E is no match for Roman Reigns. Not just anyone can defeat The Tribal Chief.
In that sense, if Big E defeats Roman Reigns, it would be a big mistake and wouldn’t make much sense. Big E is doing very well in the mid-card and it looks like that’s where he belongs.
8Should: Aleister Black
When Aleister Black was on the NXT roster, he was a true monster, capable of destroying anyone. If Aleister Black manages to show a similar version on SmackDown, then he can be a great rival for Roman Reigns.
We would watch some brutal matches, without a doubt, since Reigns and Black are capable of putting on an amazing show. Maybe Aleister Black is not good enough to take the Universal Title away from Roman Reigns. However, it would not be unreasonable to think that Black can defeat Reigns in a non-title match.
7Shouldn’t: Shinsuke Nakamura
Another potential rival for Roman Reigns is Shinsuke Nakamura, who hasn’t had many opportunities lately, despite being very talented. Nakamura is an exceptional wrestler, his in-ring skills are excellent and he never disappoints.
Roman Reigns and Shinsuke Nakamura can deliver a very interesting match. We are talking about two very different styles of wrestling and that is something that makes this match attractive. Nonetheless, Nakamura shouldn’t beat Roman Reigns for the simple reason that his prime is over. Right now, it is very difficult to imagine Nakamura defeating Reigns.
6Should: Seth Rollins
You could say that Seth Rollins knows Roman Reigns better than anyone. They have known each other for many years and lived great moments together as members of The Shield. Then each one went their own way and both have changed a lot, they have evolved.
A feud between Rollins and Reigns would be worth it. They are two of the greatest Superstars of the last decade. Obviously, it would be great to see them square off. Seth Rollins is a very crafty guy, who would surely find a way to defeat The Head Of The Table.
5Shouldn’t: King Corbin
As you probably remember, Roman Reigns and King Corbin had a rivalry a few months ago. They delivered some good matches and, overall, it was a good feud. That said, it is not completely out of the question that King Corbin will be one of Roman Reigns’ next challengers.
However, that doesn’t mean that Corbin should defeat Roman Reigns. In fact, at this moment Corbin looks like easy prey for The Tribal Chief, just like the vast majority of wrestlers.
4Should: Brock Lesnar
If there is anyone capable of defeating Roman Reigns, it is Brock Lesnar. Throughout his entire career, Lesnar has been a devastating wrestler, a true beast. Maybe Lesnar is old now and his in-ring skills have deteriorated, but you can never underestimate a guy like him.
It would make sense if Paul Heyman betrays Reigns to go to Lesnar’s side, even this could happen in the middle of a match. That’s just one of many storylines that could work in a feud between Reigns and Lesnar.
Knowing the way WWE matches are booked, the legendary Goldberg could defeat Roman Reigns, of course, but that wouldn’t make sense. WWE invested years building up this invincible Roman Reigns character only for Goldberg to come and defeat him? The fans have had enough of that.
On the other hand, if Roman defeats Goldberg, it would be perfect. Yet another victim, but defeating someone like Goldberg will give Reigns a special boost, just like what happened when Drew McIntyre did it at Royal Rumble 2021.
2Should: Drew McIntyre
After Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre collided at Survivor Series 2020, we were all left wanting to see more. They delivered an exceptional match, one of the best of 2020.
It would be amazing to see a proper feud between them again, now that they are both WWE’s top Superstars. It wouldn’t be surprising if Drew McIntyre is the one who gets the win the next time he faces Roman Reigns. So, the best babyface would defeat the best heel, and surely the fans would be satisfied.
1Shouldn’t: The Rock
It seems like every wrestling fan wants to see this dream match between Roman Reigns and The Rock. This matchup is very appealing not only because of the enormous talent they have but also because they are cousins and can carry out a showdown to determine who is the true Tribal Chief.
While seeing The Rock win the match would be amazing, it would make sense for The Rock to put Roman Reigns over. That way, Reigns would reach a new level of supremacy.
