[Report] Possible Spoiler On Major Plans WWE May Have For Seth Rollins

Coming off a victory against Cesaro, it sounds like monumental things await Seth Rollins as SummerSlam season draws closer.

On Sunday, The Architect got revenge by defeating the superstar who pinned him at WrestleMania 37 two months ago. The program with Cesaro appears to be over, however, and a WWE Hall of Famer may be next for Rollins.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the former Universal Champion “is being groomed for bigger fish right now than Cesaro, including a possible meeting with Edge.” The latter has been absent from WWE programming since WrestleMania 37, when he and Daniel Bryan lost a triple threat match to Roman Reigns for the Universal title.

Earlier this week, WrestleVotes reported the “idea as of now is for” the Rated-R Superstar to face Rollins at SummerSlam, set for Aug, 21 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two superstars have never squared off one-on-one.

For what it’s worth, Edge has been advertised for the Sept. 3 episode of SmackDown at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. That will take place after SummerSlam, but it’s another strong hint that he’ll be returning to WWE programming sooner rather than later.

It’s also worth noting that the WWE Draft is reportedly scheduled to run after SummerSlam, on Aug. 30 and Sept. 3. So even though Edge is on the SmackDown roster right now, we could see him move to Raw after a possible SummerSlam program with Rollins.

Seth Rollins Vs Edge For The First Time Ever?

Both Rollins and Edge are among WWE’s elite in-ring performers and talkers on the microphone. Edge has put on several clinical matches since coming out of retirement last year, and it’s hard to think of a more enticing opponent for him right now than Rollins. The latter is flourishing as a heel, and Edge is the ideal superstar to further elevate Rollins’ status. SummerSlam, simply put, is the perfect time to run this match for the first time ever.
