5 WWE Superstars who could replace Paul Heyman as Brock Lesnar’s advocate
Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract expired in 2020 following his WrestleMania match against Drew McIntyre.
The former world champion lost to the 2020 Royal Rumble winner. He then left the company as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to cause WWE issues for the remainder of the year.
Restrictions have now seemingly been lifted. It appears that now would be a good time for Brock Lesnar to make his return to the ring to pick up where he left off.
WWE has opened the door for Lesnar and there have been several teases regarding a return for The Beast Incarnate in recent weeks. The only issue surrounding Lesnar’s return is the fact that Paul Heyman is now aligned with Roman Reigns on SmackDown. So who could step in to be the new advocate for the former World Champion when he returns to WWE?
The following list looks at just five potential candidates in WWE at present who have the pedigree to lead Brock Lesnar to several more championships.
#5. Current WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin could be Brock Lesnar’s new advocate
Shelton Benjamin and Brock Lesnar have been friends since their college days and were even roommates at one point. The two men joined WWE and came through the ranks in FCW together before their careers went in completely different directions.
Despite this, the two stars have remained close and Benjamin is still contracted to WWE at present. The former Tag Team Champion knows Lesnar as well as Paul Heyman and would be able to help him in ways that no one else in WWE could.
Benjamin has also proved that he can deliver on the mic when needed. Whilst this would be a huge change for Lesnar since he’s used to having Heyman by his side, it would also be a massive boost for Benjamin. The former member of The Hurt Business has been stuck in a loop on WWE TV since being kicked out of the group. He could do with the career boost that being Brock Lesnar’s advocate would do for him.
Of all the choices in the company at present, Benjamin would be the ideal candidate and perhaps Lesnar’s personal choice to be by his side when he makes his return.
#4. Zelina Vega could be chosen to be Brock Lesnar’s new advocate
Whilst it’s highly unlikely, the reason WWE decided to re-sign Zelina Vega could be so that she could become Brock Lesnar’s new advocate.
Of all the managers in WWE at present, Vega is the only one who has what it takes to take Lesnar as far as he needs to go. Andrade is now flying high in AEW, which leaves Vega without a client.
If the former IMPACT Wrestling star is unable to capture the Money in the Bank contract on Sunday night, this could leave her without direction in WWE. Vega was a fantastic manager. Before her split with Andrade, she was able to lead him to both the NXT and United States Championships.
Whilst it would be hard to adapt to Brock Lesnar having a female advocate, Vega recently noted that she is a “very powerful woman.” Vega knows how to get things done and could have connections that are on Paul Heyman’s level, so she would be a reasonable choice.
#3. Malcolm Bivens could be promoted from NXT to align himself with Brock Lesnar
Malcolm Bivens could be the man that WWE decides to bring up to the main roster in order for him to help Brock Lesnar.
Bivens is someone who has a lot of potential and whilst he’s currently busy being part of the Diamond Mine in NXT, it could be argued that his potential is being wasted.
Bivens has got people talking since he arrived in NXT and he deserves to be pushed to the top so that he can test his mettle. Brock Lesnar is one of the company’s biggest stars and it would be the biggest move of Bivens’ young career.
There aren’t many male managers in WWE at present. If the company wants to remain in-house with their selection for Brock Lesnar’s new advocate then Bivens has at least discussed.
There is an air of mystery surrounding Bivens which could bring some new depth to Lesnar’s character upon his return also.
#2. Paul Heyman wouldn’t need to be replaced as Brock Lesnar’s advocate
Paul Heyman has been by Brock Lesnar’s side for almost his entire career and it’s hard to imagine The Beast Incarnate in WWE without his original advocate.
Roman Reigns has enjoyed the power and confidence that aligning yourself with Paul Heyman can do. But, if given the choice, it’s hard to believe that Heyman would choose Roman Reigns.
Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are close friends both inside and outside the ring and have a lot of respect for one another. These are facts that are well-known by the WWE Universe.
If Brock Lesnar’s return includes a feud with Reigns over on SmackDown, don’t be surprised if Heyman decides to switch sides at some point in order to return to Lesnar.
Lesnar and Heyman’s pairing is one that would be very hard to replicate, which could be why it’s taking so long for Lesnar to make his return to WWE. Hopefully, there isn’t a time where we have to see Lesnar without Heyman.
#1. MVP could be the man chosen to become Brock Lesnar’s new advocate
It would be quite the swerve if Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE and it was revealed that MVP is replacing Paul Heyman as his advocate.
The tension between MVP and WWE Champion Bobby Lashley has been made apparent in recent weeks and this could be the reason why. This week on RAW, the two men had differing opinions when it came to life outside of the ring. Lashley decided to send ‘Lashley’s Ladies’ home and told MVP that the partying was over.
There was a belief following the show that this was a tease of a face turn for Lashley, but it could also have been a tease that MVP is set to turn his back on The Almighty.
If Brock Lesnar and Lashley are set to face off in the coming months, who better than MVP to help him overcome the current WWE Champion and take back the title that he lost back at WrestleMania 36?
