SmackDown Results: Controversial finish to main event; SummerSlam rematch confirmed for next week
The Usos kicked off SmackDown and called out the Street Profits for interfering in their ‘family business’ and attacking them to help Finn Balor last week.

Roman Reigns was watching from backstage as The Profits came out and asked if The Usos had their permission slips signed by Roman to be on the show before we headed for the match.
The Usos vs. The Street Profits – Championship Contenders Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles
The Usos had the upper hand as Dawkins kicked off the match and tagged in Montez early on. Ford hit a big dropkick on Jimmy before he was sent outside and we headed for a break.
Back on SmackDown, Ford was down in the ring after hitting a big move and managed to sidestep Jimmy, sending him into the corner.
Dawkins was back in and Jey tagged in as well. The Usos isolated Dawkins in the corner and set him up on the ropes but he escaped, only to take a superkick to the face.
Dawkins hit the Anointment and Montez went for the splash but Jey broke the pin. Jey sent Ford into the ring post repeatedly and got disqualified. The Usos wiped out Dawkins on the outside.
Montez came back with a big dive and took The Usos out, saving Dawkins and celebrating on the announce desk.
Roman was not happy with the result of the match and wanted to talk to his cousins.
Backstage on SmackDown, Paul Heyman’s phone kept ringing and the ringtone was Brock Lesnar’s theme. It seemed like the Beast Incarnate had a message for Paul. Big E showed up out of nowhere to flaunt his Money in the Bank contract and laugh like a maniac.
Becky Lynch was back on SmackDown and said that she was looking forward to facing Bianca Belair. Becky added that she saved the match at SummerSlam, but it was not her fault that Bianca was not prepared for her, and The Man beat her in seconds.
Bianca came out and said that she accomplished a lot over the year before losing it all in 26 seconds. She wanted to bring herself up by beating Becky and said that she had already earned her rematch. She asked Becky for a title match tonight, and Lynch said “no” before leaving.
Dolph Ziggler was backstage on SmackDown and walked up to Toni Storm before she revealed herself to be a fan of Rick Boogs, Dolph’s opponent tonight.

Boogs lifted Ziggler as the match started and dropped him before he went for a big slam, but Dolph blocked it. Boogs got a slam in for a near fall before blocking a Superkick.
Rick managed to catch Ziggler in his trademark Pumphandle Slam for the swift win.

Backstage on SmackDown, Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce walked up to Becky and said that she had a scheduled title match with Bianca, which she earned fair and square. However, it would be at Extreme Rules, and the contract signing was next week at Madison Square Garden.
Seth Rollins was headed for a match with his archnemesis Cesaro and said that he rewatched his match with Edge to figure out what he did wrong.

Cesaro tossed Seth outside with a Tilt-a-World backbreaker and went out for an uppercut on the outside. Back in-ring, Rollins got a dropkick and a big DDT before getting a near fall.
Back after a break, Seth hit a huge buckle bomb before blocking the backslide. Rollins nearly pinned Cesaro with the Edge-o-Matic before taking a powerbomb.
Cesaro managed to hit the swing and got 20 spins in before locking in the Sharpshooter. Seth broke it up before he got a steel chair, and Cesaro ran right into it on SmackDown.

Edge Returns to SmackDown
Seth was disqualified as SmackDown continued and hit Cesaro with the steel chair some more before setting up for the crossface with the steel rod from the chair just like Edge.

Rollins called out for the Rated-R Superstar before hitting the stomp. Seth set up for the con-chair-to before Edge walked out and Rollins ran away from the ring.
Backstage on SmackDown, Paul Heyman told Roman that he had a Lesnar problem and The Beast Incarnate would be there next week at Madison Square Gardens. Paul accidentally let it slip that he knew where Brock was and Roman was suspicious of Heyman.
Edge was backstage and said that Rollins was playing a dangerous game and needed to be stopped before more people got hurt like Cesaro. He challenged Seth to a match next week and promised to end his reign of terror.
The KO Show with Happy Corbin on SmackDown
Corbin came in and hugged Owens but KO did not like it one bit. Corbin thanked Owens for helping him get back on his feet before they continued with the interview.

Corbin called out his own special guest on SmackDown, Logan Paul. Owens was not happy to see Logan and called them “self-centered, useless pieces of trash” before Paul offered him a hundred bucks.
Owens told him to walk out of the ring and never come back before they resorted to shoving each other. Corbin stepped in and hit Owens with a chokeslam, taking him out before walking out with Logan.
Sami Zayn vs. Dominik Mysterio on SmackDown
Sami took Dom to the corner right away before Dominik countered with some big moves but took a lariat. Sami was hung up on the ropes and Dom went for the 619 but Zayn tried to flee the match.
Rey showed up to block Sami’s exit and Dom hit a big dive to the outside, taking him out. Back in the ring, Dom was telling Rey he had things under control but Sami took advantage of the distraction and hit the Helluva Kick for the win.

The Usos attacked Finn Balor before the bell rang and sent him into the steel steps and the barricades on SmackDown. The Usos drove the ring steps into Finn on the barricades before The Street Profits came out to make the save.
The Profits chased The Usos out of the arena and Balor was down in the ring before Roman made his entrance.
Finn agreed to start the match before the main event was underway. Roman started strong and sent Balor flying across the ring before taking him into the corner for some clotheslines.

Balor came back with a kick and managed to ground the champ before taking a headbutt. Balor hit the slingblade but took an uppercut and a powerbomb for a near fall.After a break, Balor got an overhead kick but was sent outside. Balor trapped Reigns on the apron and unloaded on him before hitting a huge dive. Balor went up for the Coupe de Grace but Roman rolled away on SmackDown.

Roman got a Superman Punch for a near fall before going for the Spear on SmackDown. But Balor nearly rolled him up with the inside cradle. The Prince got another near fall before setting up for the finisher in the corner.
Balor hit the Coupe de Grace, but Roman kicked out of it, hitting a low blow in the process. Reigns pounded on Balor on the mat before locking in the Guillotine. Balor tried to reach for the ropes but failed as Roman made him pass out in the ring and picked up the win via submission.
Result: Roman Reigns def. Finn Balor to retain the Universal Title
As Roman walked out with Heyman, there was a small tease of Finn Balor’s alter-ego, The Demon, before SmackDown went off air.
Episode grade: B+
We got a huge Universal Championship main event while Becky Lynch’s first title match since her return was confirmed tonight. Edge made a challenge for Rollins while Brock Lesnar’s return was set for next week at SmackDown in Madison Square Garden.
