WWE News Roundup: Why Brock Lesnar trained with new superstar, Paul Heyman’s Survivor Series dream team, Big E’s touching nod to Brodie Lee (15th September 2021)

WWE has had quite an interesting week so far, and there are a few exciting updates. We came to know about Brock Lesnar’s equation with a newly recruited superstar in the wake of recent backstage rumors. We also saw Big E win the WWE Championship and share a beautiful message involving Brodie Lee.

Here, we look at some of the biggest stories that have ruled the headlines over the last few days. So, without further ado, let’s begin.

#5 Paul Heyman takes credit for the real-life interaction between Brock Lesnar and newly recruited WWE Superstar Gable Steveson

Roman Reigns’ ‘Chief Counsel’ Paul Heyman recently revealed exciting details about Brock Lesnar’s real-life relationship with Gable Steveson. He took credit for all of the 21-year-old’s right business decisions, including his Olympic Gold Medal. Heyman said he had arranged for Steveson to train with Lesnar at the University of Minnesota.

While speaking in an exclusive interview with TMZ, Paul Heyman discussed his role in Gable Steveson’s success:

“I am personally responsible for all of Gable Stevenson’s right business decisions in his life and his gold medal and his Hodge trophy and his NCAA Division 1 Heavyweight championship. I had everything with Gable Steveson winning the Olympic gold medal. I arranged for Gable Steveson to train with Brock Lesnar at the University of Minnesota, which helped Gable Steveson win the NCAA Division 1 Heavyweight championship. Then he used my strategy to win the gold medal in the Olympics,” said Paul Heyman.

As per the latest backstage reports, WWE is planning a feud between Brock Lesnar and Gable Steveson in the near future. It’s being speculated that this feud will end with The Beast Incarnate ‘passing the torch’ in a big match at WrestleMania.

It is important to note that Lesnar recently returned to the company and is currently targeting Roman Reigns. Last week, he almost ended up hitting Heyman with an F5 before The Tribal Chief’s timely interference.

#4 Paul Heyman reveals his WWE Survivor Series dream team

Paul Heyman has revealed his dream team that can represent WWE SmackDown at Survivor Series later this year. He feels that Roman Reigns and The Usos would be enough for the job and jokingly said he can be the fourth member.

“Roman Reigns, The Usos, and I will even throw myself in there because I will never need to tag in. The three of them can handle any four beings on the face of the planet,” said Heyman.

He also discussed The Street Profits, who recently challenged The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Although Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford could not win the tag team gold, Heyman heaped praise on the duo in his recent interview.

“The Street Profits are, with the exception of the Usos, the best tag team in the past 20 years,” Heyman claimed. It’s a shame that they are on Smackdown at the same time as the Usos are. The Street Profits should be champions, but they’re not going to be because the Usos hold the championships.”

The Street Profits came close to beating The Usos last Friday on SmackDown. However, Reigns ran interference and saved the title from changing hands. Soon after that, we saw The Demon, Finn Balor’s alter ego, make his appearance on the Blue brand, and the two are scheduled to face each other at Extreme Rules.

#3 Newly crowned WWE Champion Big E recalls Brodie Lee in heart-warming conversation

Big E won the WWE Championship earlier this week on Monday Night RAW. Before the show, he had sent out a warning about his intentions to cash in his Money in the Bank contract.

The show’s co-main event saw Bobby Lashley successfully defend his title against Randy Orton. Unfortunately, The All Mighty hurt his knee while attacking Riddle and Orton after his match.

Lashley then had to face Big E, but he initially declined. Big E kept provoking him until the latter gave in and accepted the challenge. This led to their brief yet entertaining match, which ended with the New Day member winning the WWE Championship – his first world title in the promotion.

In a Twitter conversation with AEW’s Stu Grayson, Big E revealed that he was thinking about hugging the late Brodie Lee after his match:

“I couldn’t stop thinking about seeing and hugging him after the match. What a tremendous man our friend was,” Big E tweeted.

Mustafa Ali also took to his Twitter account and said that Lee would have been so happy to see Big E win the top title in the company.

#2 Drew McIntyre warns Riddle about RK-Bro’s future in WWE

Drew McIntyre recently named Riddle as one of the talents who have impressed on WWE RAW. He described the one-half of the brand’s tag team champions as a “happy-go-lucky” guy.

However, The Scottish Warrior also made it clear that he doesn’t trust Riddle’s tag team partner Randy Orton. He feels that everyone knows what is going to happen and that a betrayal among RK-Bro is inevitable. McIntyre was quoted as saying:

“Riddle as well (has impressed). He’s so happy go lucky. If he was going to turn on you, he’d foreshadow it. He’s too nice. I don’t trust Randy. If you’re Riddle, everyone knows what’s going to happen. If Riddle turns on Randy, I will eat my hat. I don’t own a hat, I’ll buy one and eat it,” said Drew McIntyre.

Riddle and Randy Orton are currently enjoying a lot of popularity among the fans. They love the dynamic between the two polar opposite superstars and are looking forward to what’s in store for their storyline.

#1 Vince Russo points out the flaw in WWE Champion Big E’s title win on RAW

As mentioned earlier, Big E cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and won the WWE Championship on RAW. Vince Russo recently pointed out a huge mistake in the booking, which, according to him, made Bobby Lashley look like an idiot. Here’s what he had to say on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW:

“That’s the flaw in the writing right there because now Lashley is an idiot,” argued Vince Russo. “Big E made it clear, ‘I am cashing in the suitcase.’ So as soon as Lashley gets the win in the ‘real world,’ he is waiting for Big E. Bro, here’s the picture that they tried to paint that didn’t work for me. ‘Oh! Lashley’s anger got away from him. He wasn’t thinking clearly. He blew up and then went after Orton and then went after Riddle.'”

“No, bro. Big E told us a million times, ‘I am cashing in, I am cashing in, I am cashing in,’” Russo added. You got the 1, 2, 3 now you are facing the entrance. The fact that you went after Riddle and went after, Orton, no bro it wasn’t your temper, now you are an idiot. Now you are an imbecile because the guy told you eighteen times that I am cashing in the case. So, that’s the flaw in the story right there.”

He also noted that Lashley’s injury ended up taking away a little credibility from Big E’s world title victory. Despite that, the result fetched a positive reaction as top superstars as well as fans congratulated the New Day member for his incredible achievement.
