5 WWE Superstars who married their high school sweethearts
Over the years, a few WWE Superstars have tied the knot with their high school sweethearts. While some of these marriages are still going strong, others have fallen apart.
Finding your significant other is no easy task. Some superstars even found partners in the WWE locker room, including Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. Others have fallen in love in college and ultimately married their college sweetheart, such as Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
A few WWE Superstars found their significant other during their high school years and ended up tying the knot. Although most of these couples are still happily married, two of the relationships have unfortunately ended.
Here are five WWE Superstars who married their high school sweethearts.
#5. WWE Superstar AJ Styles
AJ Styles and his wife, Wendy Jones, first met while attending Johnson High School in Gainesville, Georgia, and have been in love ever since. The couple tied the knot in August 2000 when Styles was only 23 years old. The former WWE Champion and his wife now have three sons and a daughter.
After graduating from high school, both Styles and Jones enrolled in college. However, the WWE Superstar later dropped out to pursue a pro wrestling career.
Although Styles joined WWE in 2016, he could have signed with the company 14 years earlier. The Phenomenal One received an offer from Vince McMahon’s company before joining Total Nonstop Wrestling in 2002. The 44-year-old had to turn the offer down because he had to pay for his wife’s education.
“Financially I couldn’t afford to go up there. My wife was in college and I was the sole provider. It wasn’t feasible for me to move to Cincinnati for a developmental deal when I was making nothing. God and family are more important to me. I couldn’t do it to my wife,” he told Slam Wrestling.
The Phenomenal One has praised his wife several times on social media. On their 19th anniversary, he sent her a romantic message via Twitter.
“Nineteen years ago today I married the most incredible woman. Strong, kind, beautiful, loving, and compassionate. A mother of 4 kids and the wife of a wrestler. I can’t do this life without you babe. Happy anniversary, I love you,” he wrote.
Styles and Jones are still very much in love. The former WWE Champion recently posted several photos of himself and his wife on his Instagram account as they attended a few events together.
#4. WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella
Nikki Bella has had a few romantic relationships in recent years, the most notable being her engagement with former WWE Champion John Cena. However, before she became famous, the former WWE Divas Champion fell in love with one of her high school colleagues. The couple secretly got married in the early 2000s, but got divorced only three years later.
“I got married when I was 20. And got divorced at 23, to my high school sweetheart. Basically we got married by Elvis. We drove to Vegas, did it,” she told her family on Total Divas.
Bella also explained to her family that she knew she was making a mistake as soon as she started walking down the aisle. She tried to get out of the marriage but could not.
“Even when I started walking down the aisle, I knew this was a huge mistake and how can I get out of it and I couldn’t,” the WWE Hall of Famer added.
The 38-year-old also wrote about her first marriage in The Bella Twins’ book Incomparable. The WWE Hall of Famer stated that she never lived with her first husband or took his last name.
The WWE Hall of Famer is currently engaged to Russian dancer Artem Chigvintsev. The couple welcomed their first child in July 2020.

After joining WWE in 2001, John Cena was in a few relationships with some of his colleagues in the company. However, he ended up tying the knot with his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Huberdeau in July 2009.
The couple remained married for three years before the relationship ultimately collapsed. The leader of the Cenation filed for divorce in 2012. As TMZ reported at the time, Huberdeau was surprised by Cena’s decision. This led to her challenging their prenup and accusing him of infidelity.
Later in 2012, Huberdeau’s lawyer announced that his client and her ex-husband had settled all matters between them. According to some reports, Huberdeau received a settlement worth 60 million dollars.
After his divorce, Cena dated WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella for a few years. The couple got engaged in April 2017. However, they broke up a year later, nearly a month before their wedding.
The 16-time World Champion is currently married to Canadian engineer Shay Shariatzadeh. They started dating in early 2019 after meeting while Cena was filming his movie Playing with Fire in Canada. The couple tied the knot in a secret ceremony in October 2020.
#2. WWE Superstar/Producer Jamie Noble
WWE Superstar and producer Jamie Noble kicked off his wrestling career in 1995. A year earlier, he tied the knot with his high school sweetheart Sasha Gibson.
Noble and his wife both went to Baileysville High School in West Virginia. The couple married in 1994 and have been together ever since. They now have a son and a daughter together.
The current WWE producer and his wife are still very much in love and regularly post photos together on their Instagram accounts. Judging by her pictures on social media, Noble’s wife seems to be a fitness guru. Last October, her husband posted a few photos of her on Instagram praising her beauty and physical shape.
“I don’t know how I landed such a beautiful beast wife!!!! I could go on all day about the person she is but this is her being a bombshell in and out of training!!! I got to up my game lol. I love my woman!” he wrote.
Noble first joined WWE in 2001 and spent three years in the company before leaving in 2004. However, he returned to Vince McMahon’s company only a year later.
The former Cruiserweight Champion retired from in-ring competition in 2009 due to injury. He has since played several other roles on-screen and backstage in WWE. He is currently a producer.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus is another former superstar who married her high school sweetheart. The Diva of the Decade went to Bayview Secondary School in Richmond Hill, Ontario, where she first met Ron Fisico. The two fell in love with each other and dated for several years.
Fisico and Stratus were both wrestling fans growing up. During her appearance on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, the former Women’s Champion revealed that they bonded over their love for wrestling.
“He was a wrestling fan, so we related. We were around that, remember Toronto was like a hotbed for wrestling when we were children. When we started dating (…) there wasn’t many females that liked wrestling, or maybe said they didn’t. So the fact that I liked wrestling, we’d take trips I’ll never forget. We’d go to Florida, we’d drive to Florida and we’d base it around going to an event. Like a Nitro, we went to a WCW Nitro. Like it was part of our trip thing. So we always related from the very beginning on stuff,” she explained.
Stratus went to college and worked as a fitness model before signing with WWE in 1999. She spent seven years in Vince McMahon’s company, during which she became arguably the greatest female superstar in WWE history.
In 2006, the seven-time Womn’s Champion officially retired to start a family with Fisico. The couple tied the knot later that same year. In an interview with Reality TV in 2007, Stratus spoke about her relationship with Fisico. The WWE Hall of Famer disclosed that she somehow spent her honeymoon without her husband.
“I retired from wrestling the middle of September last year. I got married at the end of September to my high school sweetheart. We waited basically for my whole wrestling career to be over with because I was on the road for seven years. And we finally got married and built a new house. We put off our honeymoon because we were moving. We were just getting settled into our new life and our new home and I get a call to go to Muncie, Indiana (to participate in Armed and Famous reality show). So I kind of spent my honeymoon in Muncie, without my husband. My priority right now is to enjoy my husband,” she said.
The couple have been married for 15 years now. They have a son and a daughter.
Since announcing her retirement in 2006, Stratus has made several WWE appearances and even competed in a few matches. Her final bout came against Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam in 2019. The WWE Hall of Famer ultimately lost to The Queen.
